Good news! Despite that Games Workshop frequently seems bound and determined to torpedo their own RPG products the Dark Heresy RPG (among other GW products) has found a new home at Fantasy Flight Games.

Today I talk about my initial impressions of Infernal Contraption, a non-collectible card game published by Privateer Press.

Lucasfilm filed papers in January of 2008 asserting that Gen Con owes them $650,000, $150,000 of which represents the proceeds from a charity auction that were to go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Additional, on February 15th of 2008, Gen Con filed for Chapter 11. Are these two events related? It would seem so from my vantage-point. Here are some links:

I’m not sure what happened with the audio quality on this episode but I’ll try and get it sorted out for the next show. Sorry!

Today I talk about the AT-43 miniatures game by Rackham. I could go on and on about game mechanics but c’mon… it’s got apes with jet-packs! What else do I really need to say?

Episode 2: D&D 4th Edition OGL
This is hardly news anymore but I wanted to record some thoughts about Wizards’ D&D 4th Edition System Reference Document and OGL Designer’s Kit. The gist of it is that you have to either pay Wizards $5,000 if you want to publish 3rd party D&D materials in August of 2008 or you can wait until January of 2009 and not pay anything. Some pinheads think this is a “screw-job” and I’m going to tell you why it’s not.

Games Workshop released the long-awaited Dark Heresy roleplaying game (set in the Warhammer 40K universe) on 25-Jan-2008 and it is one of the best roleplaying game products I’ve seen in years. Fan response was overwhelmingly positive and the book was entirely sold out within a few days. But this is a GW product and, true to form, within three days they completely nuked it.
