Chris,
Dude! I was nodding “yes” throughout this entire cast. Right on, man.
Matt
I’m with Matt on this episode!
The 4E books are going to be the best generator of the buzz from WotC, but short term books on “the making of” are not any sensical way of generating a positive buzz for the upcoming game edition.
Also, I am holding my judgement on whether 4E will be worth the investment when I can actually hold the books and have a look at them for myself. These two books are just a stack of fluff without any substance for me.
I actually enjoyed reading these books. I especially enjoyed the Worlds and Monsters book where they discussed the changes they made to the cosmology and their reasons for the changes.
Will all the changes be evident in the new books when they come out in a few months? Of course, but their reasons for making those changes probably will not be explained.
I also enjoyed seeing how the iterative process for design worked in a game design setting.
I guess I looked at this books more as a “making of” type thing than a sneak preview type thing.
